Mr. Virgil K. Byrd is a husband and a father of two. He was born in Ozark, Alabama, and lives in Southeastern Alabama. A graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama. He's a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark.

He is a recently retired firefighter where he obtained certification from Alabama Fire College, attended Wallace Community College, and attended Enterprise State Community College graduating from their CDL course, where he obtained his commercial driver's license. Mr. Byrd earned several accolades during his career, such as Incident Command, EMS, Special Operations, Technical Rescue, Fire Suppression, Health & Safety, Strategic Planning, Fire Investigations, working his way up through the ranks to become Vice President of AFGE Union.

Mr. Byrd has always embraced a culture of caring for people, especially young men and women. He seeks to always provide and help create a knowledgeable and safe atmosphere, to help catapult young people to a brighter future. Mr. Byrd has also been in radio since the age of 16, working at WORJ radio, while attending high school; working for the city of Ozark part-time and playing sports. Presently, he is part owner of a promotion company with his best friend of over 30 years (Tri State Family Reunion) and continues to work radio on Saturday Morning Vintage Soul. Mr. Byrd, along with his wife, is part owner and manager of Byrd 4 Transportation in Newton, Alabama. His desire to further his reach for helping the disadvantaged gave birth to his 501 nonprofit, 46OL Foundation LLC.
